Online Dating

Yes, this is a cookie! I told you I am a food enthusiast remember? ;)

Hey Y'all,

I wanted to dedicate this post to the subject of Online Dating mostly because Valentine's Day is on Thursday and I'm secretly hoping I won't have to send myself roses again this year lol.

I get questions about my view on dating since I'm that one friend who is single, but doesn't hang on to the word "single" as a bad thing. Let me explain. Yes, I'm single but I'm don't have an array of cats in my apartment and I'm not a damsel in distress dreaming of being saved by Prince Charming. I'm more of a fun practical single.

I'm probably one of the funnest single people I know. I go out and I don't let being "single" stop me from having a good time. I love to go to concerts, musical plays, and of course the movies. The last movie I saw was "What Men Want" starring the super amazing Taraji P. Henson and I loved it! That's a bad girl right there. You gotta love her! I love to travel and so far this year I've been to Haiti, Puerto Rico, Sint Maarten, and Saint Kitts. And it's only February! Mexico is next! Last but not least I love to eat! I'm always down for good meal and I'm getting better at this cooking thing (thanks to my cousin Billie) so for good company I would happily make a meal for.

But back to online dating, What are some pros & cons you've experienced/heard of in this social media era?

Be sure to let me know in the comments :)

-For me, pros are being able to read bios and see profile pictures beforehand. For example, if I see a guy with a bunch of eggplant, kitty cat, water gun or purple smiley face with the horn emojis I'm probably going to think hmmmmmm...nope....thank you, next! Another pro to social media is not having to give out your personal number anymore. Most of all social media apps have a message function so no more giving out wrong numbers and no more "Aye shawty, let me get yo numba". Now cons are the people who don't even want to get to know you or your name, they just want an extra follower on twitter or Instagram. With this popcorn society we live in, seems like everyone wants instant results with everything including finding a mate. Things take time. I mean it took me years to find products that actually work on my hair so trust me I have patience. Another con is most people floss and brag on social media about a life they don't even live! So you don't really know who is behind the screen.

With all that being said, and if I were to be completely transparent, I think I'm single because I haven't crossed paths with my equal yet. I haven't experienced a connection with a man that I know without a reasonable doubt was sent from God. Don't get me wrong, now my expectations are more realistic but I still refuse to settle. And I know no one is going to be perfect, I'm so far from perfect its not even funny but still we all have standards we go by. I used to have a "List" of ridiculous qualities I wanted in a guy but then I realized, I don't even meet these qualifications! So I scratched that list and started looking deeper into myself. Instead of looking for what a man could bring into my life, I started looking into what I could bring into his. I'm still growing into the woman God says I am but I'm far from the timid naive girl I used to be.

So, all my single people cheer up! We're not single-we're in a relationship with fun & adventure. Let me know in the comment section some of your tips and tricks when it comes to online dating.

May your Valentine's Day be lit and unexpectedly wonderful!

Best Wishes,

Kiki
